Speech MVP Trading Cards & an Announcement!

by adminS2U

I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining Speechie Freebies. It is such a great resource for finding high quality, free speech and language resources.  I’m even more excited to be able to collaborate with such a creative and talented group of Speech Language Pathogists.  My husband can only listen to so much speech and language talk before he falls asleep.

I started cutting out pictures and making little scrapbooks when I was in junior high school.  I still have a page that I designed with all three of my bus passes from junior high.  I’m pretty sure there is a limited market for 20 year old + vintage bus passes.  But maybe I can combine that with my As the World Turns scrapbook, I made with pictures from Soap Opera Digest and TV Guide.

The point (beside a historical review of my neediness) was that I’ve always loved being able to create and design.  I love being able to make products that use a theme to motivate students OR that incorporate movement or visuals to teach a specific skill.

I know baseball season is almost over (and it pretty much IS over, if you live in my state.)  But I loved the idea of using trading cards to to work on social skills and being able to remember information regarding other people.

I use trading cards in different ways.  Sometimes I have each student fill out a trading card and we talk about what things we have in common for conversations.  Sometimes I have all of the students fill out a card for one person-and that person fills out a card for themselves.  The student who is able to remember the most items about a person wins.
